As I remember the white fish cooked in milk (and sprinkled with paprika) was usually halibut...something not as affordable today. Uncle Art's trout was usually dipped in flour and panfried, sometimes with the heads on.
It seems that even before Dwan Young we made Christmas cookies from an orange zest dough. I always thought it was an old family recipe, but could be wrong. Maybe she picked up another recipe later.
Several of her favorite recipes came from the 13th Ward Relief Society recipe box. One was "Sausage and Rice Casserole," submitted by Betty Meilstrup. Jean, you liked to make aebleskivers? Was that your recipe or did you get it from Mom (through Paul or Sister Skov?) Another missionary related addition was Chicken Paprika.
Who has any other old recipes? They might make a nice addition to Mom's history, since cooking was such a large part of her life. I have the recipes for "sausage and rice casserole", "pineapple cheesecake" and "beef and seven vegetables." Granted, that a lot of what she did was just in her head or made up as she went along, dependent on what was leftover that day.
